I’ve still been working on it. I’ve now got a total of 40 lense although 2 of them are still WIP. One should be finished today if I don’t get too distracted by watching the Olympics. I’ve done a lot in the Antiques & Collectables series: as well as Susie Cooper and and Paperweights, I’ve now got:

Cornishware Pottery
With its mild climate and beautiful scenery, Cornwall, England’s most south-westerly county, has become famous for its artists and craftsmen including many potters. Ironically, the most famous of the ceramics associated with the county, Cornishware,…

Portmeirion Pottery
Botanic Garden is Portmeirion Potteries’ most famous design but the company has produced a wide range from the sumptuous to the bizarre. Of course, designer Susan Williams-Ellis is the daughter of Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, the creator of the bizarre…

Collecting Thimbles
Most people who do much hand sewing will own and use a thimble, a simple, utilitarian object worn to protect the finger-tip. For collectors, though, it is much more than that and the thimbles they collect can range from the beautiful to the whimsical…

I’ve also done a new one on Brixham, in South Devon, a pretty small town, still very dependent on the fishing industry.

The final new live lenses are Quick Fruit Cake and Celebration Desserts.

Making Squidoo lenses is really a kind of addiction. No sooner have I done one then I want to start the next one. I find that using different modules to make the lens leads me on to write more, find more links and pictures. Also the more I do, the quicker I can do them. I know what I’m looking for and I’m constantly adding useful bookmarks to help me find things I need.

For most of my lens, except single recipes, I have to keep in mind that it is just one page so I need to choose only strictly relevant information. Anything off topic needs to go on a lens of its own. I think if people can’t write a reasonable amount on their chosen subject, they’ve picked the wrong subject or aren’t keen enough on doing a content page. I don’t think I could do a plain vanilla sales lens. I see some that are just a collection of ebay, Amazon and other affiliates and the only text written by the lensmaster is a brief introduction. What really surprises me is when these lenses get high rankings on Squidoo. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. 🙂
